The trouble is, HP designed and released this printer when Windows 2000 and XP dominated the market and 64-bit operating systems like Windows 7 were the stuff of a distant future. The LasterJet 1000 does work in Windows 7, but not with a native driver - HP never released a Windows 7 driver. To use your still-kicking HP LaserJet 1000 with a Windows 7 system, you'll need a workaround.

I've tried everything I've been able to locate using internet search engines in an attempt to make Windows 7 64-bit print to an HP Laserjet 1000 that is connected to an XP machine in my home workgroup. Of course, I can print just fine from an XP machinein the same workgroup. But not from Windows 7 64-bit.I have been able to install the Laserjet 1000 XP drivers and print from virtual XP Mode. Works just fine.But I'm unable to see or print to that shared printer within Windows 7 outside the virtual XP Mode box.What trick am I missing?ZZ.
